Sumner/Redcliffs RSA: Husband and Wife Collect Honorary Membership.

The couple joined the Club in the mid ‘80s and served on various committees. Les became President in the late ‘90s until 2009. They were instrumental in gaining the level of independence from the National RSA that the Club now enjoys. After a lengthy period in office, Les took a break for health reasons. A while later, Bev stepped up to the President’s spot. The Club continued its progress until the fateful 2011 earthquake. Being situated in front of an unstable rock face, the Club House, which Les had played a leading role in facilitating, was badly damaged. It had to close. Typically, Bev refused to give up. This was an emotional time, but every Thursday evening at 6pm she continued to gather people at the memorial gates of the stricken club to recite the Ode. Since the earthquake the club has moved venues several times, most recently to the Redcliffs Function Centre.
